Dunham Park, Flowery Branch, Georgia
Happy Mother's Day! To honor the day, today's house is in Flowery Branch, Georgia. I thought this house fit well with my mom's preference for traditional rooms with soft colors and touches of elegance.
Step in to the foyer, and you'll see what I mean.
This beautiful entry doesn't need much to improve it- just a little softening.
This beautiful space is by Andrew Law Interior Design. The rug will tie in nicely with the color and pattern in the adjacent dining room.
Mom would paint the area under the wainscoting cream, to match the background color of the wallpaper, so imagine that, and then imagine this:
I've been seeing variants of these simple plate rack/shelves for a little while now, and I really like them. They're so much fresher and lighter than a traditional hutch. (Yes, I added the roses to the table, just to make it perfect for a Mother's Day brunch, after all.)
Down the hall is this cheerful sunroom:
This design by Markham Roberts brings our soft colors into this space.
Here is the master bedroom that opens off of that sunroom:
Yes, it's a beautiful soft color already, but I'd like something a little more sophisticated here.
This design by Marisa Lafiosca is nice and feminine for Mom, but it's still masculine enough for Dad. The wallpaper and pillow designs remind me of the rug in the foyer, and there's nothing better than subtly repeating a design.
Now for the kids' rooms. One for a boy in soft blue:
Love that soft window shade and stylish chair.
One for a girl in soft pink:
This pretty inspiration is by Iris Thorpe. Those monogrammed pillows and pom-pom throws are sweet.
This house would make a perfect Mother's Day gift for someone who likes to decorate. All it needs is a big bow on the front door. Have a wonderful day!
