Winding Brook Drive, Fairhope, Alabama
Hello! Today let's meander down Winding Brook Drive in Fairhope, Alabama and stop at this pretty house tucked in the woods.
Not sure if this is the foyer, but we can slip in this way.
For inspiration, let's turn to Southern gentleman and designer James Farmer.
I know this room is pretty popular for being so cheerful and homey, but with apologies to Mr. Farmer, I need to change the color scheme a bit to go with our overall house palette. (I hope Kelly at Talk of the House can forgive me for messing with those red check drapes!)
See, it's still cheerful and homey- just a little muted. Why did I change the palette? Because this wonderful entry hall opens to a brick-floored office that currently looks like this:
...but could potentially look like this:
...and also has a nifty desk nook like this:
that could look more like this:
...but with a finish like this:

Now let's bring a little of that style to the kitchen.
A simple checked shade and small-scaled antique table for an island ought to do the trick.
Let's take a little break in this sunny space before we continue our decorating journey. I had so much fun with this house that I'm splitting it into two posts. Stay tuned for more soft Southern style (and more yummy buffalo check!) soon.
Thanks for stopping by!
