Pintail Drive, Minnesott Beach, North Carolina
If you happened to be in the resort town of Minnesott Beach, North Carolina in the 1950's, odds are that you spent time dancing the shag in the pavilion built over the Neuse River.
Although the pavilion and bath houses are no longer there, Minnesott Beach still celebrates the best of the past. Nowadays you might not dance the shag at the pavilion, but you can enjoy Monday night live music with Big Jim and Friends at Blackbeard's Restaurant.
This is "The Landing," (or Homesite 349) a cottage built in 2023 in the planned community of Arlington Place.
It has its own little sandy beach on the shores of the community lake, so you can step right into the water.
In honor of Memorial Day, before we tour the cottage, let's take the porch a step in the right direction with a little patriotic decoration:
When you enter, you get a pretty view of the living room's vaulted, wood-planked ceiling:
If it were mine, I'd give you lots of other pretty things to look at as well, like this:
The living room is open to the kitchen, separated by a ten foot long island:
Circling back to the living room, you can just see the guest bathroom on the far right:
The laundry room is on the opposite side of the entry:
The cottage has three bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,640 square feet.
I thought this bedroom design tied in nicely with the existing finishes:
Minnesott Beach is still taking its cues from the past, with cottages inspired by the old bathhouses on the beach...
and promotional brochures that have that same low-energy vibe of the old days:
Well, maybe today's ad has a bit more energy. Wonder if they'll rebuild that dance pavilion after all?
