Ness' Corner Road, Port Hadlock, Washington

I was working on a post about a former lifeguard station on an island in Maine -- which is almost as good as a lighthouse -- and it just felt too summery for March/April. So, I hopped across the country and found a springtime-fresh house by a creek in the woods of Port Hadlock, Washington.

It's actually a two for one, because next to the 1928 farmhouse is a little Swedish style guest cottage.

Let's start with the farmhouse:

It's neat as a pin inside, with old-fashioned charm.

If it were mine, I'd give this bathroom a spring refresh, to make it coordinate better with the rest of the house, like this:

The foyer gives us a glimpse of a room with similar color scheme:

I wish there were more photos of that space. Looks like it would make a cute tiny home office.

Upstairs are three bedrooms and another bathroom. The house has 2,782 square feet.

Once again, I would want to make the bathroom fit the old-fashioned charm of the house, like this:

There's also a well-lit attic space with lots of potential:

The property is a little over eleven acres, which brings us to the guest house:

It's just past the picket fence garden.

The listing says it could be a shop or an Airbnb. It's 1,500 square feet.

Even if it stays a rental, it needs more charm, like this:

Which would mean the kitchen and dining area would go from this:

to this:

Then it would fit in better with the loft bed area.

There's also a little outbuilding, possibly for chickens, but I can think of a better use for it.

It has potential to be the focal point of the garden as a little potting shed, like this...

and definitely get all of us in the mood for spring:

If this house makes you want to plant some posies by the picket fence or putter in a potting shed, the listing is here

Lastly, with April 1st right around the corner, here are a few of the unusual "April Fool" things I've seen in the listings recently...

A pair of jeans can be just as decorative as a hat on the wall:

If chairs can look judgmental, this row of them certainly does:

And every year I find at least one mannequin lurking somewhere:

But they must have rethought their staging strategy, because she no longer shows up in the listing photos:

Probably the right move. {sources: 1 23}

This week's YouTube video on the Upham-Wright House is here. I paired it with some new ideas to get it all spruced up for its big debut. 😀
